9 things you can do in Bristol for £8 (instead of a night at Motion)

They say that money makes the world go round, but if you’re low on cash, does that mean all the fun stops?

Luckily, Bristol SU is throwing a cracking end-of-year party at Motion, with Itchy Feet, on 1 June. You can buy tickets here, for the ridiculously good price of £8.

But don’t say we don’t give you plenty of choice - if a toe-tapping, hip-swinging, sunshiney knees-up in Bristol’s best venue for just £8 isn’t up your alley, we’ve come up with a handy list of things you can do instead for pretty much the same price.

1. A single ticket to Bristol Airport on the Bristol Flyer

Pretend you’re off on your dream holiday and buy a fabulous trip to the airport on Bristol’s premier shuttle service, with change left for a sausage roll. Bear in mind that £8 won’t cover your return journey, so enjoy the countryside views on your 3 hour walk back home.

2. A child entry ticket to the SS Great Britain

Selflessly give a child the gift of education, and let them enjoy Bristol’s most famous nautical attraction. You won’t be able to go in yourself of course, but that feeling of having done a good deed will be priceless.

3. Two loads of laundry at your halls

Laundry, laundry - one of life’s little treats. Instead of letting your hair down at Motion, why not spend an evening activating soap suds and detergent at your local launderette? And with a budget of £8, you’ll have enough for your colours, and your whites! (Remember, bring your £8 in cash.)

4. Soap bubble machine

You didn't know you needed it until you saw it. There’s something about those bubbles that keep the entertainment level sky-high - you just don’t know which way they’re going to go next!

5.This oven dish

No amount of classic summer tunes and great times with your friends can replace that warm feeling you'll get with this good honest stoneware oven dish. The classic-yet-functional design will evoke memories of your greatest pasta bakes.

6. Two Tesco meal deals and a box of Celebrations

Who said dating needs to be expensive? Why waste an extra £8 getting each of you a ticket to Motion’s cheapest night, when for half the price you could both be tucking into a Southern fried chicken wrap and several miniature Bounty bars?

7. A train journey to Worle

Wonderful, whimsical and wondrous Worle! Known for its 900 year-old parish church and its enviable proximity to the M5 motorway. If that doesn’t grab you, it takes a mere 45 minutes to walk on to Weston-Super-Mare.

8. Three boxes of Weetabix

For £8 you can start the day with the foremost Australian delicacy each morning for months! A regular fibre fix, and also a great chance to solve one of the world’s big questions - whether you should pour the milk first and then apply Weetabix, or apply Weetabix first and then milk. Cha-ching!

9. 32 pints of milk to have a tiny milk bath

If a cut-price night at Motion seems a bit beneath you, no doubt an evening being pampered like Cleopatra herself will be more your speed. With just £8 you can buy a whopping 32 pints of milk to fill an office storage box and treat yourself to a cosy milk bath. A fast-track to clean, moisturised skin.

So there you go.

One the one hand you’ve got a fabulous Itchy Feet night at Motion for an absolute bargain price to close out your year. Or on the other, a whole range of great value options to try instead.

The choice is yours.
