The Best Student Life. Bristol SU

.

There are five Bristol SU Living Rooms across the University of Bristol campus; one in Senate House and four in halls of residence in Hiatt Baker Hall, University Hall, Clifton Hill House and Manor Hall. They are spaces brought to you by Bristol SU to give you space to relax, unwind and connect with others. Everyone is welcome, no matter what you study, what year you’re in or where you live.

Our Living Rooms are part of an international movement of Public Living Rooms dreamt up by a group of people known as Camerados, who believe that the best way to get through tough times is by looking out for each other. A Public Living Room is a space where you can go to just ‘be’and mix with people you otherwise wouldn’t and be alongside. Camerados believe in creating human spaces where we can harness the power of human connection and be a Camerado: halfway between a stranger and a friend. In 2018, a piece of joint mental health research carried out by Bristol SU and other Students Unions found that 35% of students say that they rarely or never feel relaxed and 1 in 4 of you are regularly stressed about isolation. Frankly, we thought this wasn’t good enough.

Our Living Rooms provide you with space on campus to combat isolation and facilitate positive wellbeing. There are student led activities if you fancy trying something new, lots of different games, space to relax, catch up or meet someone new, have a cup of tea and eat your lunch.

We know that students have been asking for more space, that’s why we're super excited to announce the opening of the SU Living Room Extension! The extension is located on the 4th floor of Senate House and includes a Sensory room for students with accessibility needs.

We’d love to hear your stories and what you think of our Living Rooms. If there’s anything new you’d like to see or a bright idea you’d like to share, you can get in touch via email, or explore each of the spaces below to find out more.

If you'd like to book the Bristol SU Living Room in Senate House for a student group event, please fill out our booking form with as much detail as possible and a member of the team will be in touch.
