Volunteering gives you the opportunity to be part of the amazing teams and organisations doing incredible work to make a difference in the local Bristol community and beyond. Still wondering why, you should volunteer? There are more benefits than you might think...
Bristol is big on coming together, and volunteering is a great way to be part of that. There are so many ways to love your community and make a difference. Whether you’ve just arrived in Bristol, or you’ve been here a while, volunteering provides an opportunity not only to serve your community but also to be part of it and feel that sense of belonging we’re all looking for.
Volunteering is one of five evidence-based steps you can take to improve your mental wellbeing. It might seem counterintuitive to take on more extracurricular activities when you’ve got lots of work to do, but volunteering gets you out of the library and leaves you feeling refreshed. Not only does it offer a great chance to make new friends and meet new people but giving back makes you feel good. Nothing feels better than knowing that you’ve made a difference to someone’s day.
Volunteering opportunities act as a safe environment for you to try out new things, develop skills you didn’t have before and grow your confidence, all while making a difference and giving your time for a good cause.
