It is with great sadness that we announce that we will shortly be saying goodbye to Sam Budd, CEO of Bristol SU, who will be leaving us at the end of July.
Sam has been an integral part of Bristol SU for more than a decade. She took on the role of Chief Executive at a time of great change within Bristol SU. Under her leadership, the Students’ Union has transformed and has been recognised with multiple national accolades including:
• 2016: Queen’s Award for the community volunteering work at Bristol SU
• 2016: National Centre for Diversity Students’ Union of the Year and shortlisted as Chief Executive of the year
• 2017: Bristol SU recipient of the NUS national Diversity Award
• 2018: NUS Simpson King Staff Achievement Award
• 2018: Inclusive Companies Diversity Champion Award, Education Sector
• 2018: Bristol SU ranked 43rd of top 50 Inclusive Companies in the UK
• 2018: Bristol SU winner in the Third Sector Excellence 2-499 category at the Investors in People Awards
• 2019: runner-up in Charity Governance Awards – Board Diversity and Inclusivity
Sam’s commitment to supporting and developing students over the last 10 years has been exemplary. We’ve been lucky to have someone as wonderful as Sam and have every confidence that Sam’s leadership has empowered the organisation to continue to thrive in her absence.
We will shortly begin a search for a new Chief Executive, and in the interim Chief Operating Officer Ben Pilling will be acting up. In the meantime we would like to recognise and thank Sam for all she has done for our community. We will miss her very much and wish her all the very best for the future.
