“Seen, Heard & Valued!” A celebration of Black voices, stories, and lives.
Happy Black History Month!
We're running a range of events and activities in honour of Black History Month throughout Octoboer.
Led by the Bristol SU Black Students' Network, Black History Month is an opportunity for black students and allies to come together to celebrate and portray the history and nature of black excellence through a full programme of events and activities.
We're running loads of different events including an Open Mic Night, Paint and Sip, a film screening of Judas and the Black Messiah, and our finale: Rep Your Flag - Sports Day.
“This year’s Black History Month will give a sense of acknowledgment and solidarity to Black voices, stories and lives through a series of different events hosted by the network. We aim to provide an inclusive range of events for every student ranging from Selfcare Sundays and Open Mic nights to Being Black in Football and Black Minds Matter. With all this going on there will be many opportunities for students to celebrate the excellence of Black culture.”
“I am most excited about our Rep Your Flag: Sports Day and Cookout which will bring students together from across our community to engage with a day of celebration with food and games. I’m also looking forward to establishing a collaborative black community through the various groups in our new network ensuring that celebration of Black history and excellence goes far beyond just one month of events.”
- Ijeoma Egbarin, Chair of the Bristol SU Black Students Network
Events will take place throughout the month, with a number of different options available each week - events are open to all students unless otherwise specified.
