Bristol students, societies and volunteering projects have been shortlisted in a range of categories at the National Societies and Volunteering Awards (NSVAs).

Combining what was the National Societies Awards and the Student Volunteer of the Year, the NSVAs is an opportunity to recognise the awesome things students do everyday with their societies and volunteering programmes.

We're really proud that Bristol has been shortlisted in six out of nine categories. Congratulations to all the student groups and students who have been shortlisted.

Volunteering project Pitstop has been nominated for The Community Award. Pitstop takes teenagers with learning disabilities away on both weekend and day trips, giving students an opportunity to make a difference to the lives of other young people.

BOpS, Bristol Operatic Society, has been shortlisted for both the Development Award and The Opportunities for All Award. Bristol 93% Club and Phab have also been shortlisted for The Opportunities For All Award.

Gigi Aulsebrook (CoppaFeel President) is one of two Bristol students to have been nominated for The Extra Mile Award.

“Being nominated for the Extra Mile Award is an honour, one I really did not expect to receive at all. It means a lot to be nominated as everything that I have done this year, like leading CoppaFeel! here at the University of Bristol and establishing support groups for students, has come from a very personal place and it is great to have been recognised for this. I have been supported by the Students Union, my committee for CoppaFeel!, friends and family throughout this year and I would not have been able to achieve what I have without this support. I am really thankful to everyone who has been there along this journey." - Gigi Aulsebrook

Will Routledge (Chaos Talks rep) has also been nominated for the Extra Mile Award.

"I was both honoured and humbled to find out that the rest of the Chaos committee had nominated me for the Extra Mile Award. I have had a really fantastic year on the committee whose support and encouragement has enabled me to strive to overcome challenges faced and try my best in all I did over the past year. This wonderful nomination joins the long list of treasured memories I’ve made alongside one of the best groups of people I’ve got to know and work alongside." - Will Routledge

Bristol LGBT+ Society have been shortlisted in The Event Award - Local category for their Bristol x Bordeaux Drag Showcase.

Chaos Society, previous winners of the National Society Awards, have been nominated for the Committee Excellence Award

The full shortlist can be found here. Winners will be announced on 6 May at an online event. Good luck to everyone who has been shortlisted!
