We hope you're enjoying your University of Bristol Open Day so far! We are Bristol Students' Union. We exist to provide Bristol's students with the best student life.
As a Bristol Student, you will automatically become a member of Bristol SU which means you can take advantage of all the activities, events, and services we offer!
Bristol SU is led by students, for students.
Bristol SU is home to over 400 student groups. From Hockey to Hot Air Ballooning, Beer Pong to Big Band, there's something for everyone at Bristol. And if you can't find something you're in to, you can always start your own group! Fancy taking a peek at some of our current student groups? Try our Student Group Finder and find the group that's perfect for you!
Welcome Week is what we call Freshers Week - it's your chance to settle in to the city, make new friends, try something new, and get to know your new city! We run club nights, social events, network meet-ups, sports, give-it-a-go sessions, and so much more. The finale of the week is our massive Welcome Fair - usually hosted on Clifton Downs the fair is your chance to meet our amazing student groups, sign up to a huge range of opportunities, and get loads of freebies and discounts from local and national businesses.
Bristol SU is led by a team of 7 students who have been elected as full-time SU Officers. They're students just like you, who are studying at the University of Bristol, and have taken on the job of a lifetime to lead our organisation. As well as the officer team, you're represented by course reps and faculty reps who are here to champion your educational experience, JCR reps to support you in university halls, and a whole host of other student leaders including club captains, student group presidents, and Network chairs.
We have 18 Networks at Bristol SU - each designed to bring together like-minded students to campaign on issues important to you. For example, we have a Black Students' Network, Women's Network, LGBT+ Network, International Students' Network, and many more!
Bristol SU is led by students. That means there's plenty of opportunity for you to lead or get involved in campaigns that matter to you. From Black History Month to the Climate Emergency Day of Action, improving access to sport, or making sure students are better supported by the university. We're here to help you make the changes you want to see in Bristol and beyond.
Did you know that Bristol SU has two bars, a swimming pool, a gig and events venue, two theatres, an SU loft, and an SU Living Room? We have bases across campus, in both The Richmond Building and in Senate House. Spaces are available for all students - we can't wait to welcome you in person soon! Click here to find out more about each of our spaces.
As well as our spaces, and many student groups, our experienced staff run services that students actually need, to support all aspects of university life. We have an academic advice service, who are here to help if there are issues on your course. They can also help you out with exams and assessments.
Bristol SU Lettings is our friendly, fair and professional lettings agency. They have never charged agency fees and have saved students over a million pounds. You might think it’s a bit early to think about student housing, but whenever you’re ready they’ll be there.
We also have our Student Union shop where you can buy all your official University of Bristol merch.
