Bristol SU has this year achieved a rise of 14% in student satisfaction in the National Student Survey from the previous year. This the biggest increase of any University SU in the country. The improvement follows the introduction of a new strategy, building opening and re-brand in 2015. The organisation has also seen an increase in student-led cmapaigns and events.

Jamie Cross, Union Affairs Officer at the SU said 'The whole team at the Students’ Union work really hard every year to give students the best experience possible while at Bristol. It’s great that students are increasingly recognising the role we play. Every year we look to do better, and that doesn’t stop here!’

Amongst the activities the SU has delivered this year have been:

  • Record voting levels in its elections

  • A number of successful student campaigns and events. Examples include Explore '16, a showcase of some of our cultural societies and Reclaim the Night, a march against sexual violence

  • A series of high profile lectures including by Shami Chakrabarti, Alice Roberts and Marcus Du Sautoy

  • Working with the University to reform the Extenuating Circumstances process

  • Concerts by Foals, Slaves and Kamasi Washington

  • Negotiating a two grade drop in entry requirements for students from low-performing schools

  • Involving thousands of students in volunteering projects which led to a Queen's Award

  • Provision of a Lettings Agency with 93% satisfaction

The students' union represents all 22,000 of the University of Bristol's students and is a separate body from the University itself.
