It’s time for a new chapter for Bristol SU! We know the world has changed a lot in the last few years, so we’re launching a new look, new website and a new strategy to help us fulfil our vision of being a Union for All Students. 

This summer Bristol SU is launching our new Vision & Strategy for 2022-2025.   

The world has changed a lot since our last strategy was published and so has our student membership. Covid, in particular, has been seismic.  You're ready to make up for lost time and so are we. 

Our overarching ambition is to be a modern and exciting part of the Bristol experience. We will aim to be relevant to all students and make a real difference in their lives, advocating for students as the voice of the whole student body.   

To ensure our brand identity communicates our new Vision, Mission and Values we have also decided to update our visual identity at Bristol SU.  There are a few reasons why we have chosen to rebrand. Some of these are due to the technical aspects of our current brand which doesn’t translate well to digital use and isn’t as accessible as it could be. Our new brand identity also reflects, represents and enables our organisational Vision.

How we did it 

Our in-house graphic designer has led on the development of our new visual brand identity that’s easy to recognise and connects with Bristol students. We had the knowledge and expertise in our team, so decided not to approach any external agencies. 

 

Step 1: Getting your thoughts  

We spoke to students, Students’ Union staff, and your elected representatives to get their feedback on our current brand, what was working well and what wasn’t.   

 

Step 2: Concepts and Ideas 

We spent a lot of time with the new vision, mission and values to create some different concept ideas. The whole brand is built around the concept of ‘the impact of togetherness’. We also undertook research to review other SU and youth brands. 

After some initial concepts, we gathered feedback from different stakeholders, which of course included elected representatives and students. 

 

Step 3: Brand Identity 

After a few amendments and furth concept development, we created a completely new visual brand identity for Bristol SU 

 

What’s Next? 

The new brand will be rolled out from 1 August across all areas of the Students’ Union. Our digital channels, including our website and social media, will take effect immediately. We’re aiming to have switched all of our main assets by Welcome.   

Bristol SU has a long history and this is the start of a new chapter for us. We’re excited to take you on this journey with us!
