Election Lowdown

Tuesday 24-10-2017 - 16:02

Ahh, democracy...

Bristol students, we are so proud of you all.

You literally came out in your thousands to vote in the first term elections. 3,622 students have voted so far in an election this year and we absolutely smashed last year’s record for Term 1 elections out the park. We want to give a special shout out to First Year Undergraduates because 28% of you came out and voted. You guys rock.

We’re so happy you used democracy to get your voice heard and elected some fantastic candidates. There was a wide range of positions up for grabs from JCR’s, course reps, faculty reps, chair of Student Council, Richmond lectures and NUS delegates.

Not only did you vote loads, there were almost 500 students than ran for a role. Whether you won or lose, we want to give everyone a round of applause for taking the time to write a manifesto, speak to fellow course mates, housemates and other students.

We encourage you to carry on running for position, we may be bias, but we think working with the Union is great and can positively impact students’ lives.

Now, for the bit you’ve been waiting for…*drum roll please*
