Over 1000 students are involved in Intramural sport at the University of Bristol and there's been a 59% increase in the number of teams competing in Intramural Varsity this year.
Whether you’re the next Olympic athlete or a professional couch potato, there is a sport for you at Bristol. Bristol SU’s Intramural Programme facilitates friendly, semi-competitive sporting fixtures between all kinds of sports teams in Bristol, enabling athletes of all skill-levels to be part of a sporting community.
Intramural is about participation and social rather than performance sport, because we believe that sports should be open to everyone. Whether it’s meeting new people and settling into a new city; or clearing your head and getting some fresh air after a stressful week in the library, taking part in team sports can help improve your Bristol experience.
Amar Shah is an Aerospace Engineering student who got involved with intramural sport in his first year.
He is now in his fourth and final year, and still plays intramural netball. Amar says that he's founf intramural sport to add another dimension to his student experience. It has given him the opportunity to get a break from his degree, make friends and develop soft-skills.
In this video Aerospace Engineering Student Amar Shah tells us why he loves intramural sport:
There are currently six different intramural sports that you can get involved with. You can play through your halls, through a society, or with your friends in a private group.
