By this stage your student flat will be decorated with an appropriate amount of tinsel, Wham! And Mariah Carey will be staples on your playlist and you should been mildly annoyed if you didn’t receive an advent calendar from home. Coursework deadlines are also likely looming, but it’s important to take study breaks, so here's a round up of what's on if you're around in Bristol before or over the Christmas period.
Why not join the Postgraduate Network for an evening of Ice Skating and mulled wine on Wednesday 12 December to get you in the Christmas mood? Or, if you’d prefer to stay in the warm, join Bristol RAG for some Christmas cookie decorating on Thursday 13 December.
If you're looking to be entertained, come along to Proper Jokes for an evening of comedy and big laughs on Thursday 13th. We’ve also got the perfect excuse to dress up and have one more night out before the end of term at the BBC Bristol Christmas Celebration Event in aid of the ‘Alive Appeal’ with live music and entertainment hosted by the radio station’s presenters themselves on Wednesday 19 December.
Meet some new people by coming along to one of the end of term network socials. You can celebrate the end of term at the LGBT+ Network social on Friday 14 December or join the Disabled Students' Network for Christmas Coffee on Saturday 15 December. You can also come along to one of the Festive Mingles taking place in the SU Living Room, starting on Monday 17 December.
Christmas is also a wonderful time to give back to your community here in Bristol, and you can get involved with the Feed the Homeless Christmas gifts campaign that will be taking place up until 15 December. If you've had a little bit of a clear out before heading home, you can also donate at collection points across the University with Bristol Big Give.
The ResiLife team are putting on holiday events including a festive Christmas Lunch on the 23rd December and a Boxing Day tour of the beautiful and historic Goldney Hall Gardens and Grotto. Join the UoB Staying in Bristol at Christmas Facebook Group to connect with other students and keep up to date with what's taking place.
This is a great opportunity to explore the city outside of term time and get involved with something new! Check out the Visit Bristol website for some of the best Christmas and New Year events in the city.
If you haven’t already seen the perfect Christmas event for you, make sure you look out for our upcoming volunteering opportunities available over the break, which will be shared on a blog soon.
And finally, remember to grab a bargain before term starts again at The Basket’s spectacular January sale!
