Bristol SU has had success at the National Societies and Volunteering Awards (NSVAs) with winners in four different categories.
The NSVAs took place via Facebook Live on Wednesday 6 May, which is when the winners were announced.
Combining what was the National Societies Awards and the Student Volunteer of the Year, the NSVAs are the first ever national awards of this type and gives an opportunity to recognise the awesome things students do everyday with their societies and volunteering programmes.
Will Routledge, Chaos Talks Rep, was one of three winners of the Judge’s Choice Award. The judges said they “loved how passionate his peers were about Will in their nominations. It sounds like Will is a huge driver of all of the amazing things that Chaos have achieved this year.”
"I was both honoured and humbled to find out that the rest of the Chaos committee had nominated me for the Extra Mile Award. I have had a really fantastic year on the committee whose support and encouragement has enabled me to strive to overcome challenges faced and try my best in all I did over the past year. This joins the long list of treasured memories I’ve made alongside one of the best groups of people I’ve got to know and work alongside." - Will Routledge
Volunteering project Pitstop was winner of The Community Award. Pitstop takes teenagers with learning disabilities away on both weekend and day trips, giving students an opportunity to make a difference to the lives of other young people and provide families with some respite.
The 93% Club: University of Bristol’s State School Society was the winner of the Opportunities for All Award. The 93% Club aims to break down the barriers facing state-educated students and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds from progressing in Higher Education.
