Student council is coming up!
Don’t miss your chance to see some glorious student democracy in action, now in an online format.
All students are invited to attend, but only student leaders can vote on motions. If you feel strongly about any of the motions below, be sure to let your course rep, faculty rep, network chair, JCR president, society president or club captain know – so they can represent your voice.
Here’s a rundown of the motions for Student Council on Thursday 26 November:
This motion mandates Bristol SU to lobby the University and the Government to provide a reduction in fees in recognition of the disruption caused this year. In the event of a lockdown the SU should adopt a position that where possible, on-campus teaching should be replaced with a digital alternative.
This motion aims to ensure society presidents receive mandatory consent training, to maintain a zero-tolerance policy to sexual harassment and assault; and to help society presidents feel prepared and able to provide signposting to professional services, if members need them.
This motion mandates Bristol SU to lobby the University to create safe learning spaces, by offering content notes on sensitive materials. This will create learning environments which are inclusive of the needs of all students.
This motion proposes a number of changes recommended by the Trustee Board as a result of the Governance Review, to ensure the Articles of Association and Byelaws are fit for purpose. These changes would help improve clarity and remove inconsistencies – without changing any current practice.
Do you feel passionately about any of the above?
