Preview: Gentleman's Dub Club

Wednesday 24-10-2018 - 11:31

On 10 November, Gentleman’s Dub Club will once more return to the Anson Rooms for a night of ground shaking, show stopping Dub. The nine-piece dub, ska and roots reggae collective are embarking on a nine date UK tour starting with a sold out show on the 19 October at London’s renowned Electric Brixton. The tour sits ahead of their hotly anticipated 2019 album Lost In Space which is set to be released on Easy Star Records on the 25th January 2019.

Fiesta Bombarda host the grand return of the nine-piece dub, ska and roots reggae collective GENTLEMAN’S DUB CLUB at the Anson Rooms.

Lost In Space will be Gentleman's Dub Club's 4th studio album, following hotly on the heels of 2018 collaboration with The Nextman, which featured some big names on the dub scene, including Bristol based sing/ songwriter Eva Lazarus, Queen of dub Hollie Cook and Joe Cook of Fat Freddy’s Drop. The new album goes even further than previous records in blending jazz, ska, reggae and of course dub. The result? A futuristic sound, perfectly captured by the lead single Stardust, which quite literally announces the album with it’s opening fanfare. The trippy lyrics of the chorus “Stardust rushing through my bloodstream/ I want to get higher” sets an intergalactic tone, accompanied by a  familiar bassline to get you bobbing and the feel good vibes flowing.

Hailing originally from Leeds but now international men of dub, 2018 saw a huge line-up of festival appearances for Gentleman’s Dub Club. They toured festivals including Bestival, Shambala, and Boomtown this summer, having previously shook festival floors in Europe at Croatia’s enigmatic Outlook Festival.
They have also recently gained recognition from some of the UK’s top authorities on the underground scene including Rob Da Bank (BBC Radio1) and Huw Stephens (BBC Radio 1) and have hosted takeovers of David Rodigan’s BBC Radio 1 Xtra Show and Skiddle’s Instagram stories ahead of their sold out tour date at Electric Brixton.
