Thursday 24-01-2019 - 10:54

As we come into the peak exam and coursework season, Bristol SU Live is hiking up the excitement and laying out a trail for your next expedition. Join us on a journey as we inspire, inform and challenge your perceptions, with the Kendal Mountain Festival on Sunday 17th March.

The Festival is hitting the road and proving that there is no ‘adventurer mold’ as they invite everyone to navigate with them to some of the world’s most incredible destinations. This one-of-a-kind evening will be celebrating the exploration of some of the wildest places on earth.

For the Bristol tour date there are two incredible speakers lined up:

Kenton Cool is one of the world’s leading high-altitude climbers having successfully climbed Mount Everest a record-breaking 13 times. Kenton was nominated for the prestigious piolet d’Or in 2004 for climbing a previously unclimbed route on Annapurna III and in 2012 he fulfilled the Olympic Games pledge of placing a 1924 gold medal on the Everest summit.

Also hear from Jenny Graham – an endurance cyclist from the Scottish Highlands who in 2018 shattered the women’s around-the-world cycling record crossing 18000 miles across the globe, self-supported in just 124 days! The 37 year old joins us to share tales from her epic journey including avoiding bears in the Yukon and dodging kangaroos in the Outback.

The festival is also on a quest to inspire you with dramatic scenery in the form of a Film Tour, helping to map out your next mountain route. Films are at the heart of the festival, with the likes of The Invincibles; Where the Wild Things Play; Weightless and Dedicate: Diving Free helping you to acclimatize to the adventurous atmosphere. The Festivals trailer will give you a taste of some of the films you’ll see:
