Proper Jokes December 2018 Preview

Thursday 29-11-2018 - 10:30

We’ll be rounding off the autumn line up of the Proper Jokes Comedy Club with three more exciting new names in comedy. Expect slick execution, perfectly times gags and original content. Fresh off the national stand up circuit, get ready for a night of belly laughs with George Lewis, Lulu Popplewell and Bobby Mair. Grab your tickets before they're gone.

George Lewis

A stockport lad born and bred, George Lewis has been named as one of the most exciting stand up comedians to burst onto the scene in recent years. He’s won a plethora of awards early on in his career including the Amused Moose Laugh Off, Nando’s New Comedian of the Year, The Brighton Squawker Award and the Comedy Knights Fresh Comedian of the Year. George was also identified as a rising star in broadcasting by being named on the 2017 BBC New Talent Hotlist. He’s touring the length and breadth of the UK this autumn, regularly appearing at comedy clubs up and down the country with shows in London, Darlington, Southwell, Daventry and Bristol throughout November.

Lulu Popplewell

Having first found fame through a very minor part as the all important ‘first lobster’ in the school Christmas production in Love Actually, Lulu Popplewell has since turned her hand to stand up comedy. She was a semi-finalist in So You Think You’re Funny? 2017, finalist in the Leicester Square New Comedian Of The Year Award and the Chortle Student Comedy Award 2018. Her recent shows discuss her life with a disarming matter-of-fact honesty, especially when it comes to her battle with addition. She’s been named as “one to watch” (Funny Women) and is taking the comedy world by storm.

Bobby Mair

Topping the bill for December is Canadian stand-up comedian Bobby Mair. Bobby toured earlier this year with his show ‘Loudly Insecure’ which documents his journey to finding his birth family. To say he hit a couple of snags on the way would be an understatements and his story involves wildly dramatic twists and turns. He has recently supported Bill Burr and Doug Stanhope on tour, as well as appearing on Russell Howard’s Good News, Sweat the Small Stuff, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and 8 out of 10 Cats. All of this has led him to become and instantly recognisable face British television and on the UK comedy circuit.

This star studded line up will top off our autumn series of the Proper Jokes Comedy Club with three more unforgettable stand up sets. Catch them all on 13 December in the Anson Rooms Bar. Bag a student ticket for only £5, or General Admission is £7. Get your tickets here
