Rate My Group: UBWRFC

Friday 23-03-2018 - 08:00

Just one of the things that stands out about UBWRFC is the way it prides itself in being a friendly, welcoming and supportive team for women from any sporting background, from all levels of ability. The team promises an introduction to women’s rugby for all new players, with new members of all ages, builds and ability levels always welcome.

With sub-teams ranging from the 1st team competing in the Southern Premiership League to the Development team, there’s no woman who wouldn’t be perfect for the team!

"Amazing support from all and encouragement regardless of level. Joy and friends!"

UBWRFC offers free taster sessions, matches, training sessions and tournaments on the pitch, which greatly enhances team members’ fitness as well as ensures an active social life outside of the academic bubble.

According to the Rate My Group survey, a whopping 100% of team members agree they feel part of a student community whilst having improved their skills, wellbeing and gained new experiences - which of course is hugely indicative of the fact that UBWRFC isn’t all about what goes on in the action of the game.

"When I joined, the previous members were really friendly and I had a family feeling from the first moment."

They provide an array of socials to get involved in and hold several raising and giving charity events throughout the academic year. UBRFC is nevertheless a great society for you if you’re passionate about rugby, as it’s one of University of Bristol’s Performance clubs, which means the team receives specialised strength and conditioning training.

So, why not pursue your passion for rugby whilst at university, or just give it a go? You never know what you might discover!

Training @ Coombe Dingle on Monday evenings 8:30-10:00pm, and Friday mornings in Tyndall Sports Centre at 7am. BUCS matches are on Wednesday afternoons in various locations.

Find out more from UBRFC’s Facebook page or UBRFC’s Twitter for regular updates.

The above quotes are taken from 2017's Rate My Group survey. To find out how much your society is making a difference to its members, encourage them to complete the Rate My Group 2018 survey: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/RateMyGroup18

The survey will close on Tuesday 27 March.
