Faculty Representative Joe Allen introduces us to Bristol SU’s newest network, lifts the lid on its inner workings and explains how you too can get involved!

The SU has over a dozen networks. Each network consists of a group of students, all working together to represent a shared purpose. You may have heard of the Womens’ Network, the Postgraduate Network or the Societies’ Network. The point of each network is to provide a platform for students’ voices to be heard, and to gather a community of people able to effect positive change.

The Education Network (EN) is brand new this academic year. Its members advocate on behalf of all matters relating to education, whether at the undergraduate (UG) or postgraduate (PG) level. Our aim is to with with the University to ensure that they provide the best teaching experience possible.

The quality of education means more than just the quality of physical or digital learning resources. It also encompasses the accessibility and suitability of study space, the effectiveness of support services, and the ability of university policy to adjust to students’ diverse and changing requirements. These are only a few of the many factors.

The EN committee includes representatives from each faculty, at each level of study, but we want you to join us too! Any student at Bristol can join the EN by clicking here [1]. The more members we have, the louder is our voice and the more we can achieve.

We’ll use this blog to describe and explain our ongoing projects and events. Real change is often slow to appear, and we hope this blog will allow us to illustrate how we are active behind the scenes. This includes the activity in other SU roles that some members (like myself) may also happen to have.
