Your seven full-time officers are elected by the student body every March and are paid and work full time to lead Bristol SU for a year. They represent students and help improve the student experience at Bristol.

Union Affairs Officer: Adam Michael Hi, I'm Adam, and I was elected as your Union Affairs officer for 2022/2023! In this role, I look after democracy and representation in Bristol SU, and ensure that students are at the heart of Union decision-making. I’m responsible for how students interact with the Union including effective communication channels and oversight for Union services, including those provided for societies, and volunteering & fundraising (RAG). I did Politics with Quantitative Research Methods for my Undergraduate Degree, and before being elected for this position, I was very active in societies affiliated with Bristol SU. I enjoy talking about representation, especially in giving a voice to the voiceless, hearing stories that aren't usually heard. I hope to meet and acquaint myself with as many students as possible throughout my tenure! Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with friends, playing football recreationally (both in real life and virtually), and sharing cute WhatsApp stickers! |

I’ve just finished my second year as a Politics and Sociology student, I’ve been campaigning on student issues and causes since coming to Bristol and can’t wait to continue this in my role! As ELA Officer I work to ensure that Bristol is an inclusive, safe and accessible university for all students. I will champion the voices of students from marginalised backgrounds and identities, and work with your networks and societies to centre student experiences in the SU and the university. |

Sport and Student Development Officer: Lucy Matthews Hi, I'm Lucy (pronouns she/her), your current Sport and Student Development Officer! Before taking on this role, I was Club Captain for Women’s Football as well as being on the Sports Network in 2020/21. I joined the University of Bristol in 2019, and have just completed my undergraduate degree in Criminology. My dissertation looked at the consequences of racial abuse online with reference to English football players, and involved looking into the history of both football and racism. As your Sport and Student Development Officer, I represent sport societies and student groups and their members who are represented throughout the university community, in the SU and beyond. |

Student Living Officer: Izzy Russell Hi! I’m Izzy and I’m your Student Living Officer! I have just finished my second year of studying philosophy and politics and am taking a year out to work for the SU. I have also been involved with the SU through roles such as JCR president, aerial arts officer, secretary of VegSoc and secretary of SASS. Within my remit is wellbeing, sustainability and housing. These are all things that I am passionate about and have been an activist for before beginning my role. I will work for the SU and university buildings (including housing) to be sustainable and accessible, fight for student rights, and ensure that support is given to students throughout their university experience. |

Director of Marketing, Digital and Enterprise: Paul Arnold I have responsibility for leading several areas within the SU, including: our marketing and digital team, our events and community team, our business development and commercial teams, and delivering on our Welcome campaign and program. My priority is to support the organisation on the SU strategy, to work with students to create an inclusive and supportive university community. I seek to do this across my teams by: effective partnership working with the university and the city, increasing engagement with our diverse student body, and reshaping and evaluating the SU to align our resources and activities to students needs and wants. Director of Impact and Influence: Cassie Agbehenu I lead our Impact and Influence directorate which exists to ensure that Bristol students can challenge, shape and enhance their experience with us. Our teams include, academic voice and insight who lead our academic representation system, research and consultation; Liberation and campaigns who deliver all our democratic structures, student networks and change campaigns with liberation and inclusion at our heart; and our advice and support team which includes our Just Ask service, delivering student centred advice, guidance and wellbeing support. We also ensure our student leaders are supported and be the best representatives they can be for our diverse student body. My role is to ensure that our SU has strong, impactful and effective representation structures, campaigns and support. Associate Director of People and Culture: Maddy Wall My role is to oversee the People and Development function within Bristol SU. This includes streamlining and creating consistency within HR processes such as recruitment and induction, amongst others. It focuses largely on advising and supporting managers within Bristol SU regarding effective people management, coordinating our learning and development programme and working on projects to improve people's experience of working at Bristol SU and to lead and embed organisational change. Central services, overseen by Ben Pilling, fulfill a range of roles at the SU from managing finances for the organisation and societies, the recruiting and development of our staff and offering support to the senior management team and trustees.
Finance Manager: Thao Ha I am responsible for all aspects of the day to day record keeping and accounting of the organization to provide high quality financial information and assist Director of Finance to drive and shape the financial strategy, as well as to improve and streamline our financial processes and systems, to ensure we deliver maximum impact for students now and in the future.

Finance Business Partner: Katie Pilcher I support the Head of Finance with financial management and accounting responsibilities. I provide financial management and budgeting support to all the teams across the SU. My role is to act as a partner between the finance team and the rest of the SU by providing finance knowledge to their teams when they need it. It is my job to provide key stakeholders such as the Trustees with high-quality financial information on a regular basis. |

Finance Administrator: Matt Moras I take the lead on Purchase Ledger (supplier invoices and payments), Club/Society/RAG accounts, production of cheques (for suppliers and student claims) and transfers between accounts. I also deal with electronic payments (for suppliers and student claims), petty cash claims, expense claims, float requests and general queries. |

Finance Administrator: Mercedes Cook I maintain the sales ledger for both the SU and student groups, which includes all income processing, raising and sending invoices, and answer most general queries that we receive into the finance mailbox. I also handle internal transfer requests, float requests and petty cash requests. |

This directorate is made up of three key teams: Academic Voice and Insight, Liberation and Campaigns, and Advice and Support. We work to make sure students are well represented at all levels of the university, have the tools and support you need to run the campaigns you care about, and provide free impartial academic advice and support.
Head of Insight and Academic Voice: Lizzie Tilley I lead a small team that supports a network of over 800 academic reps, academic society leaders and other student roles. Together they make up Bristol SU’s Education Network which collaborates on the academic issues that are important to Bristol students, whether that's at course level, university level, or even national issues. As well as supporting student representatives, I also deliver Bristol SU’s approach to student consultation and ensure we have a joined-up approach which maximises the positive impact for students. Student Voice Co-ordinator (Student Experience Programme): Josie Benge I work closely with staff at the University to ensure that Student Voice is at the heart of the Student Experience Programme - a change project designed to improve Bristol students’ lives at university. This mainly involves planning and delivering consultation activities with students and reporting on the outcomes. Research and Analysis Coordinator: Megan Arianna Law I plan, design and analyse research projects around the student experience at the University of Bristol. At Bristol SU we use research to find out more about the issues that are important to our students, to both improve upon our own services and to lobby the University to improve student experience. I work collaboratively with students throughout the research process and place a high priority on inclusive research practice, to ensure that our consultation activity, findings, and the recommendations that follow, are relevant to all of our student members. Policy and Campaigns Coordinator: Maisie Chatfield My role is keeping up to date with university and higher education policy to support the SU’s representative and campaigning work, ensuring our work is relevant and evidence based. This also involves helping to manage student policymaking and supporting the running of Bristol SU’s democratic structures, including Student Council, AMM and Elections. I also offer guidance to the 18 Student Networks, supporting student leaders and helping them to campaign for change. |
Advice and Support Manager I manage and coordinate the Just Ask Advice Service to ensure that students receive quality advice and support when around academic issues and to help them get the best outcome for them from university procedures. I also work with other Bristol SU teams and university staff to make sure that our knowledge from our case work feeds into campaigns and policy decisions that might affect students. I coordinate the development of volunteering opportunities, in the city and wider region, that link in with the three Bristol Futures themes: Innovation and Enterprise, Global Citizenship and Sustainable Futures. Commercial Events and Media Sales Executive: Kirsty Hibbert I am responsible for fundraising income for the SU via: Venue Hire, Welcome Fair stand sales, brand activation stalls and direct marketing to the student population, including the coordination of student group external sponsorship. I have an excellent understanding of what it takes to engage with the student population both digitally and face-to-face. I look after multiple spaces in Senate House such as both of The Bristol SU Living Rooms and The Bristol SU Loft, and The Balloon Bar in Richmond Building. I oversee the day-to-day running of the student spaces at senate house and coordinate all the events and bookings that happen in these spaces. I work closely with societies and groups to ensure that their events run smoothly and that the student spaces are enjoyable for everyone to use. |

Facilities and Technical Manager: Andrew Williams I lead the delivery of technical management and logistical support for all events and work closely with event organisers including staff, students and external clients to plan, advise and deliver on all technical and logistical elements of their event be it large or small. I manage all aspects of technical equipment and facilities including purchasing, regular inspection and maintenance within Bristol SU. I also lead on Health & Safety relating to the use of all performance spaces within the building ensuring they are fit for purpose and in good presentation. |

Facilities and Technical Assistant: Jack Hancocks I provide technical support for events at the Bristol Students Union. This can range from large-scale gigs, to formal dinners and everything in between. I specialise in the implementation of lighting for events, but also have experience in sound engineering and AV support. Another part of my role is to ensure the facilities in the building are maintained for student and client usage on a daily basis. Technical Assistant: Jake Newman I provide technical support for students wishing to host their own events, as well as assisting with external gigs in the Anson Rooms. I specialise in sound engineering and can often be found in the Balloon Bar providing sound for open mics and karaoke.
