About the Student Mental Health Partnerships Project

Universities UK published a report ‘Minding Our Futures’ (2018), which found a great variation in mental health care offered to students. Following this, The Office for Students has granted funding for 10 projects focussed on improving student mental health. The University of Bristol is taking part in the Student Mental Health Partnerships Project to understand and improve students' experience of accessing support for their mental health and wellbeing. This partnership has a specific focus on the pathways to care and the co-ordination of care offered by universities and local NHS services.

Getting Involved

We want to hear from students that have experience of accessing support from the University of Bristol and the NHS. It’s really important for us to involve students in shaping care options and making recommendations about the services in the Bristol area.

If you would like to be involved in this research please fill out this survey so that we can find out a little bit more about you and get in touch to arrange an interview. The interviews will last approximately 1 hour and will be conducted by 1 University of Bristol Student Researcher. Interviews will take place from the 7th June via zoom. You will be reimbursed £20 for taking part.

What will this project achieve?

  • Partnership working between universities and local NHS services

  • Final report to share impact of the different regional partnerships

  • Evidence-based evaluation framework

Bristol SU is part of a Bristol Hub which will see us collaborate with UWE Bristol, the Students’ Union at UWE, University of Bristol, Bristol City Council, West of England Academic Health Sciences Network (WEAHSN) and the NHS. The Bristol Hub is 1 of 5 regional hubs focussed on improving mental health outcomes for students. The other hubs are: London, Liverpool, Manchester and Sheffield. Each regional hub is able to take a tailored approach to supporting students in that region.
